The Immune Sequence is a well-known practice within the Iyengar Yoga tradition, developed by B.K.S. Iyengar. It combines supported forward extensions, backbends, inversions, and restorative postures in a carefully considered order designed to quieten the nervous system, improve circulation, support the respiratory system, and help maintain balance in the body's natural defence mechanisms.
In this workshop, we will explore the sequence in depth, learning not only the individual postures but also how they work together to create a powerful and integrated practice. Suitable for general students who are comfortable practising Headstand (Sirsasana) and Shoulderstand (Sarvangasana), this workshop offers the opportunity to develop a sequence that can become a valuable resource during times of stress, fatigue and seasonal illness.
The workshop consists of two complementary practice sessions held on the same day and is designed to be experienced as a complete programme. The morning practice is 1.5 hours in duration, followed by a 1-hour afternoon session that builds on and completes the work of the morning.
As each session forms part of a carefully structured sequence, attendance at both sessions on the day of the workshop is required.
